REBATES APPLY WITH PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE EXTRAS COVER!
Prior to coming along to your 1st appointment we will send you a pre-consultation questionnaire to complete. You will return this to us before the appointment preferably at least 24 hours before.
When we send you then pre-consultation assessment form, there will be an additional document outlining what you need to do before the scan. It is important that you read this and follow the instructions to ensure you are best prepared for the most accurate scan results.
Our densitometrist will discuss the assessment of your pre-consultation questionnaire, ensure you have prepped correctly leading in to the scan, obtain any additional information required from you, explain the procedure for the scan, and ask you if you have any questions. You will then be positioned on the table for the scan. The scan itself will only take a few minutes, so time to relax!
The report is printed off immediately following your scan. We will run through every component of the scan so will will understand total body fat, muscle and bone. Look at the fat hiding underneath the muscle around the midsection etc. Discuss calculated resting metabolic rate. Provide professional, evidenced-based guidance to steer you in the right direction for additional support.
We will provide you with a hard copy of the report and with your consent we will also provide a copy to your Bariatric surgeon.
With the Bariatric Surgery Scanning Package, you will have tworeview scans. Your densitometrist will discuss when it is best to have these done as this can be adjusted depending on the objectives.
Upon completion of the Bariatric Scanning Package many patients choose to continue having regular ongoing review scans. We offer discounted review scans for patients who have completed the initial phase of the Bariatric Scanning Program. If you would like ongoing support and accountability the frequency of review scans is best discussed directly with densitometrists.
"Why should I choose your service"
When choosing a provider it is important to look beyond price. Price doesn't equal value!
We are highly skilled, experienced clinical and sports dietitians. We wanted to develop a unique experience where customers not only get access to DEXA technology but also to accurate and personalised advice.
Therefore you will not see any options for us to provide services such as "scan only - no discussion at all or brief discussion only".
We are passionate about helping you achieve your goals. A consultation with us will provide clear direction so you don't have to guess your way through interpretation and implementation of necessary adjustments.
So every scan has a consultation attached. It's definitely worth it!
Private health rebates may also be available if you have eligible extras cover.
"I haven't had the surgery yet but would like an pre-surgery assessment, can the machine handle my weight?"
Our DEXA machine has a patient weight limit of 227kg and can provide exceptional accuracy and precision within this weight capacity.
"How will I know if I'm losing fat or muscle?"
We track changes in body composition through DEXA which is the Gold Standard for body composition assessment. This WILL give us a clear picture of your progress as it is not subject to the same errors inherent in other forms of body composition assessment such as BIA scales, bodpods and other measures.
Therefore with a DEXA scan you will truly know if your weight loss is as a result of muscle or fat loss. We will also track your bone status over time.
"Can I claim private health rebates?"
Patients with eligible private health insurance extras cover may be able to claim rebates against the consultations. It is best to speak with us directly as cover varies from fund-to-fund so we will provide you with some individual guidance.
